New projects, new colleagues, new customers and lots of activities outside the office: a lot has happened during the ninth year of Fabrik19 AG. Of course, the pandemic has also had an impact on us over the past twelve months. Nevertheless, we look back on an eventful year and are already looking forward to the company’s 10th anniversary in 2023.
Developments with long-standing customers
We are particularly proud of working on the further development of our long-standing customers’ projects. For instance, the Medientage München as well as the Münchner Bücherschau and the Münchner Bücherschau junior took place either digitally or in a hybrid format using a digital platform developed by us. Together with our long-standing customer Globus Fachmärkte, we are constantly working on developing and optimizing the Globus Baumarkt app. Only recently, the new Scan & Pay function was integrated in the Globus home improvement stores and in the app. The Mia app for employees of the Globus SB Warenhäuser has also been given a new coat of paint.
Furthermore, we have worked actively with the Jobstairs Giessen 46ers, the RSV Lahn-Dill and the EC Bad Nauheim to make their digital offer even more appealing. Moreover, the ApothekenApp was one of the biggest projects this spring, as it combined an aggregation app and a white label app – basically an all-encompassing, large pharmacy app and many smaller apps from individual pharmacies. New projects over the past year included the ErstHelden and the Leitz-Park app. Plus, we were also allowed to equip the new version of the von Poll real estate app with cool, new functions and a new look.
Feierabend:digital
Due to the rapidly changing pandemic situation, the Feierabend:digital was continued in a completely digital as well as in a hybrid and face-to-face format. Our last event, which was the first pure face-to-face evening, was very well received and can be described as a complete success. The event series deals with current topics of digitization and regularly invites speakers from regional companies to exchange experiences. After a short keynote speech, participants always have the opportunity to network.
The topics of the past year’s events ranged from agile project management over employee management during the ongoing digitization, the introduction of an ERP system and hybrid work in third places to artificial intelligence. We are already very excited about the upcoming evenings of Feierabend:digital! The next event will take place on September 29th from 5.30 pm at SleevesUp! Giessen City. The subject and speaker will soon be announced via the usual channels.
Change of name and Mobility Suite
A very special highlight of the last 12 months is our change of name from a GmbH to an AG. Fabrik19 has grown significantly in recent years – meanwhile, 54 employees enrich our team – and has a lot planned for the coming years. A lot of work was also done on our premium software, the low-code framework Mobility Suite mos., and a number of new functions are in the starting blocks.
However, due to the amount of work, team building must not be neglected. Thus, we were very happy to be able to celebrate our spring festival, which served as an alternative to the Christmas party that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. In July, the team also enjoyed another canoe tour together – followed by a barbecue, of course. We fire up the grill quite often during lunch break. Nowhere else is the exchange more interesting than when the boss himself is standing at the grate!
Smart cities and digital villages
A lot has also happened at the Distama GmbH, the subsidiary of Fabrik19 AG, in the past year. In addition to the constant optimization of the successful Giessen app, the new heimatschatz Giessen voucher was launched in December 2021 and proved to be very popular right from the start. Vouchers worth about €60.000 have been sold to date. And the number increases every day – just like the acceptance points at which you can redeem them.
After Mainz, our technology is now being used in another major city: the “MEIN DUISBURG” app is gradually growing with new features and users. However, not only smart cities enrich our everyday life, but also smart villages: The pilot phase of the app “digitale dörfer im Landkreis Gießen” has provided many new insights into the requirements of small towns. The test balloon ends in October. Then, all the other municipalities in the Gießen district can also opt for the project and take part. Talks are already underway with first municipalities that are interested in the app.
As you can see and mainly due to all the exciting projects, we have reason to look forward to the upcoming 10th anniversary year of Fabrik19 AG with excitement. However, none of this would have been possible without our partners and customers. We would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in us and for the good cooperation! We look forward to working on current as well as new projects, to expanding our product range, and to everything else that the tenth year of the company has in store for us!
