In the event of an emergency, every second counts. However, many people are often overwhelmed in a situation like this and are afraid to do something wrong. In such circumstances, the app “Ersthelden” – a combination of the German words for first aid and hero – can be of help from now on. The new offer was developed by Fabrik19 on behalf of CRS medical GmbH in Aßlar.
The app addresses the topic of “first aid” and assists in the search of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). During cardiac arrhythmia, an AED can analyze the heart rhythm and emit a current pulse if necessary. It was intentionally built for inexperienced people offering first aid and supports reanimation by generating acoustic and visual signals as well as voice instructions.
In the app, users will see all AED in their vicinity and can also find directions to the closest AED. They are also able to make an emergency call by simply pressing the emergency button included in the app.
Plus, if an AED has not been registered yet, it can be added directly into the app. Apart from the AED section, users can also find a first aid library, in which the most common emergency situations are illustrated and explained.
“Every year, more than 100.000 Germans die of sudden cardiac death. The faster people can help, the higher is the probability of revival. The app contributes to a fast use of first aid methods; thus, everyone should have it on their phone”, says Sarah Dobener, who is the responsible project manager at Fabrik19.
Would you know what to do in case of an emergency? You can download the app from the Google Play Store as well as Apple’s App Store.
