Despite the hopes of a return to normal, the Covid-19 pandemic continued to have a significant impact in 2021. Both privately and professionally, this brought numerous changes. Virtual meetings and the home office became the norm. Also, the demand for digital offers has continued to rise.
This year has also shown us that working and communicating from the home office can go smoothly despite everything. Our team has also continued to grow, and we were happy to supervise Bachelor and Master theses and welcome new employees to the team. The somewhat more relaxed situation during the summer even allowed the team to go canoeing together.
Promising start to the new year
2021 began with an update of the Gießen 46ers website for the new season and the participation in the Stadtwerke Innovators Day (#SID2021). There, CEO Mark Pralle spoke about our technology concerning smart cities. He exemplified this using the Gießen app we developed. In the further curse of the year, we were also happy to welcome Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus. The event-series “Feierabend:digital” was also successfully continued this year. Attention: The next “Feierabend:digital” will take place on January 27th, 2022.
Working on projects for long-term customers
Taking the current situation into account, we as a technology company are all the more grateful that we were able to work on numerous new and existing projects in 2021. We have been able to develop and optimize several projects, especially those of our long-standing customers. We are delighted about the trust that has repeatedly been placed in us.
The Globus Baumarkt app and the Globus employee app “Mia” were continuously expanded, adapted and optimized in cooperation with the company. In cooperation with Leica Camera AG, the new version of the Leitz-Park app was created. By using this app, users are given a better overview of the site in Wetzlar. Furthermore, in cooperation with von Poll Real Estate, their app was relaunched.
Technology for individual requirements
Due to the pandemic, hybrid events were an extremely popular type of event this year. We were happy to take on the challenge of adapting the digital platform of the Medientage 2021 to the format. Additionally, we had the opportunity to develop a digital platform for the 62nd Münchner Bücherschau. The platform was based on the technology of the Medientage platform.
Using our own technology, new apps were also developed in 2021. On behalf of CRS medical GmbH, the Ersthelden app was developed. The Ersthelden app provides essential assistance with first aid application and was developed using our Mobility Suite mos. In addition, Axicorp GmbH used mos. to create the Scale-It app that optimizes individual production steps.
The further development of our own products was also something we focused on. Our online tool ontever, for example, simplifies allocating appointments in pandemic times and is always adapted to individual and current requirements. Moreover, we also worked hard on optimizing our Mobility Suite. Plus, our digital signage solution screem was used at the Mathematikum Gießen this year, among others.
Developments at Moorgate and Distama
A lot has happened at our subsidiaries, too. On one hand, Moorgate Benchmarks was acquired by the financial information and analytics company Morningstar. On the other hand, the Distama GmbH continues to grow. They just presented the new heimatschatz Gießen voucher and will be working in numerous other projects in 2022.
All in all, we can look back at a year full of challenges, good cooperation and pleasing successes. Our ongoing projects promise an interesting upcoming year 2022 full of innovative digital solutions.
Fabrik19 wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a prosperous and healthy New Year!
