Migration of a live app to our Mobility Suite mos.

A major project we worked on a lot over the past year was concerned with the transfer of an existing live app to our Mobility Suite mos. We were happy to take on this challenge and successfully optimized the technology and layout of the new app. In this article, you can find information on what our Mobility Suite is, how a migration like this works and what the result looks like using the example of the “ApothekenApp”.

The Mobility Suite mos.

Our Mobility Suite forms the interface between your idea and the finished digital product. It is a premium software that can be used to rapidly create and customize high quality native mobile applications. The suite was created with the aim of standardization and automation. It is used by us and numerous other companies in the areas of consumer and enterprise applications. This way, native mobile apps can be created without individual development using the building blocks, components and UI concepts that are already defined in mos. As the Mobility Suite enables the implementation of mobile applications for different end devices, it does not matter whether it’s an application for a smartphone, tablet, or kiosk system. Everyone who wants to realize their idea in a digital solution can benefit from the suite.

A native app based on the Mobility Suite is created according to this principle.

Migration of the “ApothekenApp”

On behalf of apotheken.de, Fabrik19 successfully transferred the existing “ApothekenApp” to the Mobility Suite technology as part of its further development and optimization. The top priority for the relaunch was to accurately transfer the existing data and profiles to the new app. In this case, the precise transfer of the settings of a user’s medication intake proved to be particularly important.

In addition to developing the new and optimized app, we also took on the reliable data transfer as the technology partner of apotheken.de. For this purpose, we first created an overview of the data and functions relevant for the migration. Plus, we considered the requests our client had for the further development of the app. Then, we implemented the desired components into the new “ApothekenApp” based on our Mobility Suite. We were able to integrate these components fully into the customer’s systems. At the same time, new functions were added, such as the e-prescription or the implementation of our own chat solution.

Challenges of the project

Working with an already existing, live system presented the biggest challenge. Therefore, the old app and its code acted as a reference and were used to test the update. Despite the absolute change in technology, the project presented itself as rather pleasant for the client. “The transfer to the new technology went smoothly, the team at Fabrik19 did a great job. We are very pleased with the result”, says Sarah Kunz from the apotheken.de team. For app users, the new app going live looked like a regular update. We are pleased to see high levels of activity shortly after the relaunch. Plus, an increasing number of new installations can be observed every day.

To summarize, this project has demonstrated that the migration of an existing app to our Mobility Suite is not a hurdle. Evidently, the further development and optimization of the app and a secure transfer of data can be combined with the migration process.
